He was born in Mosul, and studied at St. Abdul-Ahad Dominican School in Mosul. He graduated and taught there until 1911; then he moved to Baghdad and worked in governmental offices until his retirement in 1936. He was fluent in several languages including English, French, Turkish and Syriac. He was one of the most prominent playwrights in Mosul. He wrote and translated various plays, such as “Ma Wara’a Alsitar” (what is beyond the curtain) – translated in 1925, ‘Mithal Alwaffa Wamithal Alwataniya’ (an example of loyalty, and an example of nationality) 1926, ‘Alawatif (emotions) 1929, ‘Alqirt Althahaby’ (the golden earring) 1929, ‘Almuda’ee Bilsharaf® (pretender of honor) 1930, “Thaman Alkalima’ (the price of the word) 1936, ‘Rasul Alakwakh’ (the messenger of huts) 1952, Ihdothat Albamya’ (the story of the okra), and many others. Most of these plays were acted on the stages of Mosul and Hilla.
