1887-1957
Poet, researcher and literary historian, was born in Mosul. He studied at the School of St. Abdul Ahad and became a teacher there after the graduation. He studied Arabic literature by one of the Muslim Scholars in Mosul; he left Mosul to Al-Zaafaran monastery, Mardin, where he studied Syriac, English and Theology.
In 1907 was ordained priest and in 1918 bishop then in 1933 bccame patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox.
Of his works: The dispersed pearl in the history of Syriac sciences and arts Horns 1943 Aleppol956 Baghdad 1976 / the syriac expressions in Arabic dictionaries, Damascus, 1951 / the divan of hearts lyre, Horns, 1954 / the origins of from Syriac, Beirut 1969. He achieved many books as: The unknown history of Al_Rahawi and the politeness of morals by Yehya Bin Auday Al-Tikrity, as well as he translated many books from Syriac into Arabic.
