He was bom in Alqush, and he entered the Institute of Saint John in Mosul in 1929. He was ordained a priest in 1941, He served in his hometown until 1952, then in Aleppo from 1952 to 1960 In o He was ordained a bishop in Aleppo. He studied in Paris from 1960 to 1962 and he served in Beirut from 1962 to 1964 and then in Cairo as a Patriarchal Vicar (1964-1980) and Bishop (1980-1984), After his death, he was buried in his hometown Alqush, He was fluent in several languages, including German, French and Latin, as well as Syriac and Arabic. He was known for his melodious voice in the performance of liturgical tunes, and he recorded many such tunes with his beautiful voice, including six tapes (or cassettes) of the German Institute of Tabor, which is specialized in the musical recording (Cairo, 1977), two volumes (Rome 1967), recordings of the Mass with his voice. Christmas songs, songs of Saint Ephram, the prayer of Ba’utha, and others, in addition to collésting dozens of liturgical tunes in a manuseript. He had a research entitled ‘Ash-har Mualifi Altaqs Alkildani (The Most Famous Authors of the Chaldean Liturgy’, which was published in the Journal of the Orient (Beirut 1962). He also had a modest contribution in the Syriac theater when (in Alqush in 1947) he directed the play ‘Sahdothad Mar Shimon Barsabace (the Martyrdom of St. Shimon Barsabaee) written by Rev. Bishop Andrawes Senna.
